Working in collaboration

Chloë and Jane bring together nearly 50 years of combined experience in the heritage sector.  Together they make a strong team with experience in consultation, interpretation, education, volunteering, project management, evaluation and community participation. As practitioners in the heritage field, with a wealth of experience in delivering projects, they are able to develop projects involving people which are ambitious yet achievable and sustainable. They both have wide experience of working with museums and galleries, historic houses, theatres, arts centres, cathedrals and churches and outdoor environments

Chloë and Jane have a number of shared skills for example in project management, volunteering and evaluation. Equally they are both adept at interpreting heritage stories; however they each bring their own specialism to the team. Chloë has particular expertise in public programming and audience development. Jane’s specialism lies in her understanding of managing diverse collections and making them accessible. However they work collaboratively on all aspects of project development and design.

Together they have been instrumental in raising around £50 million of HLF money for heritage organisations.

Jane has close to thirty years experience working in the heritage and culture sector providing strategic advice and delivering projects.  She has worked for a wide range of organisations focusing on making heritage and collections accessible through learning and a diverse range of interpretation projects for different audiences. She has been successful at developing long term working relationships with a variety of institutions, successfully delivering collaborative projects understanding each organisation's individual vision and ambition. Consultation, evaluation and monitoring and the active involvement of people has been at the heart of her work over the last twenty years.

Before becoming a consultant in April 2003, her main professional experience was gained working for the London Borough of Newham, Slough Museum and the London Borough of Southwark in community history, curatorial and collections management positions.

Chloë has over fifteen years experience in the heritage sector with a track record in leading organisational change. She develops audiences by finding creative and inspiring ways for people to make connections between heritage environments and their own lives. She involves audiences, whatever their age or background, collaboratively in the development of understanding, stewardship and presentation of heritage: placing visitors at the heart of heritage work.

Alongside this, she works directly with heritage professionals and trainees to build capacity across the sector as a whole. She has a large network of contacts in a range of heritage and cultural organisations. As a member of the National Trust’s London and South East Regional Advisory Board she regularly advises on strategic issues in relation to their activity.

Before becoming a freelancer in 2009 her main professional experience was gained at Southwark Culture and Heritage Services, the London Borough of Brent, The National Trust and English Heritage. She also currently works at Southbank Centre as their Heritage Associate.

Located in London and North Dorset we work all over the country and Northern Ireland.
